4th -   Prestigious Award for the Cardiac Rehabilitation team at the Alex.

The team (Linda, Jane and John) have been awarded the ‘British Association for Cardiovascular

Prevention and Rehabilitation’ (BACPR) Green Award for helping to give people the best

quality of life. The team offer a telephone support line, regular exercise and education classes

and support group meetings for patients with cardiac problems.

Linda Barratt, Cardiac rehab specialist nurse, said “We’re delighted to receive this award,

which would not have been possible without the support of the teams in the Coronary Care unit

and Certified post anesthesia nurse at the Alex. Everything we do is aimed at ensuring

we are putting our patients first and helping them through the four phases of recovery to give

them the best possible quality of life."

20th - The Annual Dinner/Brian Wattison memorial dinner will be taking place at Kings Norton Golf Club.

The entertainment will be, by popular demand, magician Alan Hudson.

All proceeds from the raffle will go to Macmillan Cancer Support.     Click here for menu

An excellent evening was had by all who attended the event. The food as usual was good, the drink was flowing and much genial conversation taking place. Patrick treated us to his now legendary jokes and banter. The entertainment was provided by Alan Hudson an inner magic circle magician  whose magic/comedy  show is outstanding. A great evening

March

With immediate effect all exercise classes have been cancelled. This is in response to the ongoing Corona virus situation. Our members tend to fall into the 'Most at risk group' and given the age demographic of our members and the fact that, by definition, we all have underlying health problems it is prudent to take this action. The committee will contact members when the classes resume, there is no date for this at the moment.

April

The evening exercise class due to be held at Redditch (Easemore Road)

on the 15th of April will not take place due to building work being carried out on the premises.

22nd - bi-monthly meeting

The Committee have decided that given the current Corona virus situation the Group Meeting scheduled for Wednesday 22nd April has been cancelled.

It is disappointing as we were looking forward to an interesting and informative update from Linda Barratt (Cardiac Rehabilitation Nurse).

                                                                        Coronavirus

We will be following Government guidelines regarding classes. Currently it is only large events that                                                                                    are cancelled.  We would ask though that people are mindful of the advice about stopping the spread                                                                              of this disease.
